The production of plastic products is a complex process, which mainly consists of raw material preparation, molding, machining, finishing and assembly.
Forming is the process of making various forms of plastic (powder, granules, solutions or dispersions) into products or blanks of the desired shape, which is the most important process in the whole process and is a necessary process for the production of all plastic products or profiles. There are many types of molding, such as various molding, laminating and calendering. Other processes are usually chosen according to the requirements of the product, i.e., not every product has to go through all of these processes.
Mechanical machining refers to drilling holes, cutting threads, turning or milling on the molded workpiece, which is used to complete some work that cannot be done or is not done accurately enough in the molding process. Finishing is mainly for beautifying the surface or appearance of plastic products. Assembly is the process of connecting or matching the completed parts to make a complete product. The latter three processes are sometimes referred to collectively as secondary or post-processing. In contrast, the secondary process often takes a secondary position.
Among the molding methods, there are more than thirty kinds of plastic molding methods, such as blow molding, pressure injection, gas-assisted injection molding, injection molding, extrusion, rotational molding, suction molding, and foam.
